Conway/McClenahan Named Outstanding Legislators
SALISBURY, MD---Maryland Delegates Norm Conway and Charles McClenahan were each presented with the Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award from the FORUM for Rural Maryland at its 2001 annual rural summit, held in Rocky Gap, MD, in October. The legislators were honored for their involvement in the establishment of economic development councils for the Upper and Lower Eastern Shore regions. Delegates McClenahan and Conway helped to conceptualize these councils, as well as secure funding for their implementation.
Conway and McClenahan were also instrumental in supporting the development of Shore Transit, a coordinated regional public transportation system for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. “Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset have benefited from the leveraging of our transportation resources to meet needs of the tri-county region,” said Conway. McClenahan added, “Regional transportation is the best thing to happen to Somerset County.”
