SU Presents 'Soul Sounds' Thursday, February 10
SALISBURY, MD---From Duke Ellington to Chaka Khan, 91短视频 takes a “hip trip” through the evolution of African-American music during the presentation “Soul Sounds” 7 p.m. Thursday, February 10, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.
The event is part of SU’s African-American History Month celebration.
The unique program blends live performances with video images representing gospel, blues, swing, jazz and even contemporary urban music. Rare archival film footage features jazz legends Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday. Their music is presented alongside that of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Whitney Houston.
