Poet Paul Lisicky is Next Writer-on-the-Shore Thursday, March 8
SALISBURY, MD---Poet Paul Lisicky continues 91短视频’s spring Writers-on-the-Shore series, reading from his works 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the Montgomery Room of the Commons.
The author of Lawnboy, Famous Builder, The Burning House and the forthcoming Unbuilt Projects, Lisicky is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a National Endowment for the Arts award winner. His work has appeared in anthologies and magazines including Ploughshares, The Iowa Review, StoryQuarterly, The Seattle Review, Subtropics and Gulf Coast, among others.
Lisicky’s writing has earned awards from the James Michener/Copernicus Society and Henfield Foundation, as well as the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA, where he was twice a fellow. Publisher’s Weekly calls him “impressive,” adding that his work “gracefully transports readers to the artist's interior world as he attempts to find the appropriate outlet for his self-expression.” According to the Los Angeles Times, he “conveys the sweetness and lostness of a boy, and the senselessness of making him choose between extremes.”
Lisicky lives in New York City and Springs, NY. He has taught in the graduate writing programs at Cornell University, Rutgers University-Newark and Sarah Lawrence College. He currently teaches at New York University.
