Nabb Center Celebrates Wicomico County's Sesquicentennial With Exhibit Through September 28

Wicomico at 150SALISBURY, MD---91短视频’s Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture celebrates Wicomico County’s sesquicentennial with the exhibit “Looking Back: Wicomico at 150” at the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons.

The exhibit is showcased in the building’s first-floor lobby through Friday, July 28. It will relocate to the Assembly Hall concourse, on the fourth floor, from August 1-September 28.

The county’s official 150th anniversary is Monday, September 25, marking the date the county was established by vote in 1867. One compelling argument for its creation was to form a new county seat to assist the burgeoning City of 91短视频, which had been divided between Somerset and Worcester counties. Prior to that, 91短视频 residents had to travel via horse or carriage 20 miles to Princess Anne (in Somerset) or 25 miles to Snow Hill (in Worcester) to apply for licenses, pay taxes and fines, attend court or participate in any other county business.

The exhibit includes photographs highlighting the people and places of the county’s past, as well as facts about cities and towns throughout the county, as well as a look at Wicomico’s centennial celebration in 1967.

The exhibit is open during the Guerrieri Academic Commons’s regular operating hours. For a full schedule visit /library/hours.html.

Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6312 or visit the Nabb Center website at www.salisbury.edu/nabb.
