SU Police Recognized for Crime Prevention, Law Enforcement Efforts
SALISBURY, MD---The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services recently recognized the 91短视频 Police Department for its crime prevention efforts.
The SUPD was one of only 13 jurisdictions in the state to earn the 2019 Governor’s Award for Law Enforcement Agencies.
In addition, SU Police Sgt. Kelly Hitty received the Governor’s Crime Prevention Award for Law Enforcement and Correctional Officers for her administration of community policing programs including “Coffee with a Cop” and presentations to SU Housing and Residence Life staff on topics including drug and alcohol identification.
She created a crime prevention calendar for the SUPD to keep track of such events, as well as the department’s safety activities. Hitty also serves as a supervisor, field training officer, certified crime scene/evidence technician and Taser and NCIC instructor for the department, using those skills to further in-house staff training.
At a separate event, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) honored Pfc. Scott Horengic for his efforts in combating impaired drivers. MADD annually recognizes the most successful “driving while impaired” and underage drinking enforcement officers on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
