Prescriptions
Prescriptions issued by SHS can be filled at any local pharmacy at the student's expense. Students may contact their insurance companies to see if and where prescriptive privileges exist. Students & parents are encouraged to speak with their insurance companies prior to illness so they know where to go should the need arise. Some prescribed medications are available to be filled and purchased via the Student Health Center Dispensary for an additional cost similar or less than a retail pharmacy.
Requirements
Prior to entry into 91短视频, each student is required to complete a health history questionnaire, tuberculosis screening questionnaire and submit dates of required immunizations with documentation via the secure Student Health Web Portal.
Students, regardless of age, are required to provide documentation of all immunizations by uploading to the portal, fax or by mail. Physical examinations are not required for admission to the University.
Confidentiality
All information received by SHS regarding a client's health is strictly confidential. Access to medical records is limited to authorized SHS personnel. Faculty and administration do not have access to medical records and will not be able to verify a student's visits to SHS without the student's permission. If the student is 18 years of age or older, the University cannot release information to his/her parents without the student's prior knowledge. Medical information is released only with the student's written consent or upon court-ordered subpoena.
Immunizations
Student Health Services requires all students, living on and off campus, to have:
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
- Tuberculosis screening questionnaire
- Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis)
- Maryland law requires that all students, graduate and undergraduate, enrolled at Salisbury who reside on campus in University housing have Meningococcal vaccine or a signed waiver on file in SHS
Recommendations:
- Hepatitis B vaccination
- HPV vaccine (recommended for men and women)
- Varicella vaccine
Medical Excuses / Sick Notes
SHS does not routinely provide medical excuses for absences from class. Students missing class should notify their professors of their absence as appropriate. In instances where students experience serious illness/injury or on-going health problems, absence notifications will be coordinated through the Vice President for Student Affairs office.
Affordability
Student Health Services strives to provide high quality care with low out of pocket costs to students. Please do not delay seeking care due to worry of the financial burden. If you find that you’re in a situation where you cannot afford the visit fees associated with your appointment, please let someone from our office know. We would gladly speak to you about your situation and offer solutions as appropriate.
